The composition is so successful because where his head is, meet The Rule of Thirds.  The lighting is really obvious, which is why it's really good and well done. The sun really brought out the light and the fact the the photographer made the photo black and white kind of leaved me wondering how it would turn out if it was in color. The subject is engaging because it kind of makes me wondering why is the subject hugging the tree and why is he in the position he is now. Some of the methods he used was the Rule of Third, limited color, and repetition (The trees). 

The composition is successful because it focus on the subject and the barber is in The Rule of Thirds. Also the color of the subject (seat) and the color of the barber's shirt compliment each other (red & orange). The lighting is soft and subtle, not too harsh. What makes the photo engaging is that the subject is portraying how I can go get a haircut with comfort. It kind of interest me how instead of focusing on the barber, it focuses on the chair. some of the elements that is being used is The Rule of Thirds, and selective focus.
