Culture

Culture, to me, is what surrounds us in our everyday lives. Everyday, the choice we make is based on the culture that is around us, we make decisions based on what seems to be the most appropriate one in our society. To be even more specific, culture can emphasize on inspirations, motivations, beliefs, interests, even religion, etc. In this day of age, individuals make changes and are deeply influenced by their culture; whether it's bad or good, somehow, people end us changing to fit society beliefs in culture. In the present day, there are various of culture I would consider that I fit in. For example the I am currently engaging in a hip-hop culture, specifically the break dancing culture. A genera culture that I belong to is the current generation culture where the clothes and shoes I wear, the food I eat, and the shows I watched are based on what is being called popular at the time, which also can be called concrete culture. Everywhere I go, I see my generations dress alike and act the same as once another, and that's because they belong to a culture where judgement and popularity are heavily influenced. A concrete culture to me can also apply to my goals and dreams, what I want to do and what I wish to be, all depend on the things around me. My motivation and drive to achieve what I'm hoping to become, evolves around the culture that involves hard work and determination. A behavioral culture would be my perspective on conflict occurring all around the world. Take war for example, I am not a fan of violence, therefore I dislike wars, because war shed blood and tears. Language also play a big role in behavioral culture; as a kid who grew up in Cambodia, I learned Cambodian as a first language. Therefore, there's a language barrier sometimes when I speak English, because the culture in America is different from Cambodia, so I have trouble using the right words and phrase sometimes. Cambodian and American culture are really different from each other and I would consider myself as a part of both world. To go even more in depth, I heavily emphasize religion as part of my symbolic culture. I am Buddhist and I always remember my roots and where I came from; the fact that I live in America and I still celebrate Cambodian holidays and hold Cambodian tradition shows my identity towards the culture. Also with morals, my beliefs aren't always according to others, which shows another symbolic thing that's in culture. There fore, culture is the way we live and how we choose to make changes and live with the consequences. Whether it's good or bad, those decisions or mistakes create another criteria to fulfill in order to be accepted in that specific culture.
